Coast to Coast AM - San Antonio UFO Crash/Harry Reid

It’s been a wild one this week. Trending on social media lately was the tale of a UFO crash near San Antonio, New Mexico in 1945. The story is that two youngsters, searching for a lost cow, heard a loud rumble, saw a flash of light and then a cloud of dust and smoke. You can read the whole story here:

http://kevinrandle.blogspot.com/2021/05/the-san-antonio-ufo-crash.html

They approached that area, saw the downed craft and three small, thin creatures.  They told their parents, who returned with them and saw the craft but not the aliens. Eventually, the military did arrive and cleaned the area and removed the craft but not before the boys managed to take samples of the debris. Jacques Vallee and Paola Harris are coming out with a book detailing this story. I’m skeptical of aspects of the case but want to see what the investigation has turned up. I will note here that pictures of two pieces of the debris have been published on the Coast-to-Coast AM website. You can see those objects here:

Don Schmitt mentioned to me that he had spoken to Reme Baca a number of years ago. According to Schmitt, the crash had taken place in 1947 and on the Plains of San Agustin. It was later that the story evolved to San Antonio, NM, and to 1945. You can listen to Don’s discussion here (in the first segment):

Also gaining traction this week are a couple of statements by former Nevada senator Harry Reid. He is reported to have said, “I was told for decades that Lockheed had some of these retrieved materials. And I tried to get, as I recall classified approval by the Pentagon to have me go look at the stuff. They would not approve that. I don’t know what all the numbers were, what kind of classification it was, but they would not give that to me.”

I need to make it clear here that Senator Reid did not see the debris himself, and, although he has been to Area 51 a number of times, he saw nothing to indicate that alien spacecraft were housed there.

Curt Collins

Curt Collins reported Senator Reid clarified earlier remarks about recovered debris by saying, “I’ve never believed Lockheed had anything in that regard, even though a lot of people believe that — I don’t.” As to whether any UFO fragments are stored away in some other government or contractor’s warehouse, Reid is doubtful: “I never heard of anything, other than some conspiratorialists. So, I don’t think that they’re credible that they’re things from outer space.”

However, I’m reminded of Senator Barry Goldwater who talked of a blue room hidden at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where much of the recovered material was stored. According to what Senator Goldwater said, on many occasions, when he approached Air Force General Curtis LeMay about permission to visit the blue room, he was told, “No, and never ask me again.” I have a letter from Barry Goldwater sent to Kent Jeffrey in which Goldwater confirms that information.

For those worried about the authenticity, Kent Jeffrey gave me the
original letter rather than a copy. I have it still.

These stories go back for decades and while we have had hints about the level of secrecy, it is only recently that we have seen how high that secrecy extends. When Jimmy Carter was the president-elect, he attempted to learn more about UFOs and asked then Director of Central Intelligence, George H.W. Bush, about UFOs. Bush told Carter that he was not yet the president and refused to provide that information. I explore that in UFOs and the Deep State, providing the details of that refusal and how such things are managed by the Deep State in Washington D.C.

Now we look forward to the release of the UFO/UAP report scheduled for next month, though I just heard it has been delayed, which is no real surprise. I have little hope that we’ll learn something new about UFOs, or that there will be any exciting revelations. I look for it being Condon 2.0, which is just another attempt to kill interest in UFOs by suggesting there is nothing to them. It is just an appeal to authority that doesn’t answer any questions we might have.

X-Zone Broadcast Network - Larry Holcombe

This week I talked with Larry Holcombe about his book, The Presidents and UFOs: A Secret History from FDR to Obama. It was a wide-ranging interview that took in a lot of territory. You can list to it here:

There are a couple of points that we need to clarify. We talked about Doug Locke, who had said that as a judo instructor at Biggs Air Force Base in El Paso, he had
Front gate at Biggs Air Force Base, El Paso, TX.
learned about the Roswell crash from several pilots sent there for training. I knew it as Biggs Army Air Field, which is not a big difference but a difference none-the-less. Checking the history of the base, I learned that in the 1950s it had been Biggs AFB, and that the name later had been changed back to Biggs AAF. So, both Larry and I had been right about it. That it had been an Air Force base in the early 1950s added a note of credibility to Locke’s tale.

I probably should note here that I did press Larry on the vetting of Locke’s military experience. The problem was when he mentioned that Locke’s military records had been lost in the fire at the St. Louis Records Center in the big 1973 fire. Oh, there is no doubt there had been a fire and that tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of records had been lost. Claiming that “my records were burned in the fire,” is the standard dodge of those making up their tales of military service. In this case, I think the problem was more that Larry didn’t understand my question. Some of Locke’s records had apparently survived or had been reconstructed, so
Larry Holcombe
that his military service was confirmed by an independent, disinterested source. I think that became clear in the show.

The other point was Jimmy Carter’s UFO sighting. I said that he had made it while governor of Georgia and Larry said it was before he was governor. Turns out that the sighting was made in 1969 but wasn’t reported until 1973 after Carter became governor.

Either way, the sighting is not a very good one. According to the latest data it seems that on an evening in 1969, the exact date of which has not been confirmed, Carter, with a group of others saw an object about 30 degrees above the horizon. Carter said it was bright white and about as bright as the moon, rather than the size of the moon. The object seemed to approach and then recede.

Although Carter said about twenty people saw the object at the same time he did, none of those people have been found. Given that, and the controversy (yeah, controversy is a bit harsh) over the date, it is difficult to put a conclusion on the sighting. Originally, it was suggested that Venus was the culprit, but later, Air Force tests conducted around Eglin Air Force Base, seem to have provided a better solution, especially if the date of January 6, 1969, is accurate. Anyway, you can read more about that here:

and here:

and here:

Larry and I did discuss MJ-12, who might have had a hand in creating the documents and if there were elements of authenticity in them. I suggested a fatal flaw in what is known as the Eisenhower Briefing Document and you can read about it here:

and the tale of Robert Willingham here:

And, if you wish to read the whole story of MJ-12 as it stands today, look for Case MJ-12, but be sure it is the 2018 updated version. There is new information added to the 2000 edition.

Next week, I’ll be talking with Mark O’Connell, who wrote the biography of J. Allen Hynek. The conversation will be framed with the treatment of Hynek in History’s Project Blue Book but we’ll also look at some of the controversy Hynek created with his swamp gas explanation for the Michigan UFO sightings in 1966 and his adventures working for the Air Force.

If you have any questions for Mark, add a comment here and I’ll try to get them answered for you during the program.

DISCLOSURE is Coming?

There has been some talk inside the UFO community that DISCLOSURE is on the horizon with Hillary Clinton saying that if she wins the election, she’ll release the hidden UFO files. Others have said that President Obama has suggested that he’ll release these files before the expiration of his term, which would mean that it might come tomorrow or as late as January of 2017.

To all this, I say, “Nonsense.”

Why?

Because we’ve heard all this before. Remember Jimmy Carter, who had sighted
Venus and Jupiter in formation. Photo copyright by Kevin
Randle.
Venus and thought that it was an alien spacecraft. He thought that he would get to the bottom of UFO trouble. Nothing ever came from that, though these were some interesting times. There was even a suggestion that DISCLOSURE was going to happen almost immediately, but, in the end nothing came of it.

Bill Clinton said the same thing. But then he was asked about the Roswell case and said that he hadn’t been told about it. It was during the Clinton administration that the Air Force “reinvestigated” the Roswell case and determined that what fell was just weather balloons and rawin radar targets. Didn’t matter that the explanation was essentially the same that they had claimed in 1947, it was the answer to the question that seemed to appease many.

The point, however, is that DISCLOSURE was at hand, according to them, and for some reason it never happened. Skeptics will say it was because there was nothing more to release. DISCLOSURE had happened when the Project Blue Book files were declassified in 1976. There was nothing in them that was spectacular other than evidence that a classified project had been carried out, contrary to the various claims made by various officials over the years.

True believers will tell you that there was no DISCLOSURE because the secrets being held were too disturbing to be shared with the public, or it would disclose secrets about the craft that the government did not wish revealed for national security reasons. They will point out that General Bolender had said that the best cases were not part of the Blue Book system, and others will say that Project Moon Dust picked up the slack.

And now, once again, we’re promised DISCLOSURE. I don’t know why this has become an issue in this election, and while it is not a big issue, the mainstream media is talking about it, many of them seriously. It might be who one of the candidates is, or it might be that the President is looking for an issue to divert attention from other, more imperative matters, but there is discussion about it.

But, it won’t happen for one of two reasons. Either there is nothing left to disclose or national security will stop it. Personally, given what all we have discussed here, at other blogs, in magazine articles, documentaries and books, all the secrets are out there. Some of them are so wild that no one other than a few nuts believe them (really, reptilians on the moon?) and some of them seem truly exciting but do not affect our lives in any way. If we learned to tomorrow that alien races have visited Earth, what difference would it make? We’d all still have to pay our bills, go to work or school, do chores, take care of those who need it, and wait somewhat impatiently for the next chapter of Game of Thrones.

I would hope that no one is going to base his or her vote on the candidate who promises DISCLOSURE because there are other, more imperative issues for the President to worry about. But we all have to remember the history of DISCLOSURE… there isn’t one. It is sad that this promise is thrown out there periodically but it is even sadder that people still believe it will happen any time soon. I predict we’ll have full DISCLOSURE the day that alien craft lands to reveal the truth about alien visitation and not a second before.
