A few days ago, Philip
Mantle passed me the sad news that Calvin Parker had succumbed to cancer. He said
the family asked for the news to be held for a few days so that they could make
all the proper arrangements. This I did.
Calvin Parker |
I will note here that I
had the opportunity to speak with Calvin a few times and did interview him on
my A Different Perspective radio show/podcast. I asked what I thought were
tough questions, things that I had wondered about for years. He never shied
away from those questions and answered them easily. He inspired me to write
what I thought was a companion book to his books, and those of Philip Mantle
and Irene Scott about the 1973 abduction.
During my first
interview, he mentioned additional witnesses to the abduction and I thought
these were people who had come forward in the last couple of years. He
corrected me, saying that some were only recently identified, but there were
witnesses to the abduction and the names of four of them were given to the Air
Force the day after the abduction. This was corroborated in document that had
the names of several Air Force officers on it who were involved with testing and
interview on October 12, 1973.
Here's the point to
that. I must wonder what the Air Force was doing investigating an abduction
case in 1973, four years after Project Blue Book was closed and the Air Force
claimed they no longer investigation UFO sightings.
I mention all this as
sort of a preamble to Philip Mantle’s sad announcement today. Following is the information
that he passed along to us:
GONE FISHING – CALVIN PARKER
BY PHILIP MANTLE
It is with great sadness that I have
to inform you that Calvin Parker passed away on August 24th at
8.15 am. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his wife Waynette and other
loved ones. Calvin was diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer some time back so
we knew his time was limited but it was still bad news when it arrived. A
private memorial service was held at the Guardian Angels Funeral Home on
September 2nd. At the request of Calvin’s family, I have not
released anything in public until now.
For those who don’t know who Calvin
Parker is, he was one of the two men involved in the 1973 alien abduction case
on the Pascagoula River, Mississippi on the evening of October 11th,
1973. You can find the full information on these events at: https://de173.com/calvinparker/
Calvin and I had become close friends
over these last five years and we talked regularly on skype. He was a charming,
intelligent man with a great sense of humour. I’m not ashamed to admit that I
cried when I was informed by his wife Waynette that he had died. Thankfully I
spoke with him the week before and told him that I loved and respected him. He
already knew that anyway. I also told him that he had more friends around the
world than he could ever imagine. His personality, his story and his two books
touched a great many people and also helped him get rid of some of the trauma
that he had carried since that night in 1973.
When I began working with Calvin I
agreed that I would help him cement his legacy. That legacy was to tell his
story in full and help to document it for posterity so that future generations
will have this information to study and maybe help understand what happened to
him and Charles Hickson that night. Calvin was simply looking for answers, some
of which he found, others that he didn’t.
I could continue to tell you more
about Calvin Parker but I would instead suggest you listen to one of the many
podcasts he did. Charles Hickson can also be located online telling his side of
the story. Of course, it was their love of fishing that took them to the
Pascagoula River that night in October 1973.
Maybe old anglers don’t die,
they just go fishing in a bigger river.

Philip
also added a brief request for additional information about the case. He and
Dr. Scott have been seeking additional information for years. He provided an
address for that information.
MORE INFORMATION REQUEST
Even though Calvin Parker is no longer
with us the search for more information continues. I know there are people out
there who have more information on this encounter case and I would like to ask
them to release it now before it’s too late. Please do the right thing and let
me have it. It can be sent to me in total confidence if required. Don’t
hesitate, just send it now.
There may well also be other
eyewitnesses to the UFO events in 1973. We have already interviewed a number of
people, some in complete confidence at their request, but many others who have
also allowed us to use their real names. If you are one of those witnesses
please do not hesitate to contact me at the earliest opportunity and in
complete confidence if required. Time is against us so please do not hesitate.

I recall when that incident first hit the news. I was in college at the time and one of the ladies who also worked at the library said she was surprised to hear that some of the officials involved were inclined to believe the two men. Since that time I have come to understand that was based on the law enforcement personnel secretly recording their conversations and finding no evidence of subterfuge.
When asked about the incident by TV news one of the college Physics professors who had taught me replied with a point that I still have not addressed, in this case or any other:
"When you consider where these people would have to come from, certainly not in this solar system, you have to realize that they would be so technologically advanced that if they did not went you to see them, you would not see them."
So, why do they either want to be seen or else do not care if they are seen and at the same time have not landed and introduced themselves?
I've often wondered why the so-called aliens are always playing hide and seek with us, after traveling billions of miles to our planet. That's not very logical nor smart for a species that has conquered space travel. Also, I never gave the so-called, Pascagoula incident any creditability at all.
@RWE:
I also remember the UFO "flap" of October 1973, including Pascagoula. Hickson and Parker impressed the law enforcement people, one of whom said "Those guys are either telling the truth or they should be in Hollywood." Parker appeared on television a number of times in the months following the incident. He lived for nearly 50 years after it.
So why do aliens want to be seen but don't land openly? At the time of Parker's abduction, polls showed that many people would have adverse psychological fractions if ETs landed openly. Humanoids often appear to be engaged in research but that's phony. The main reason for appearances is just to slowly inure humanity to their reality and presence. One work, THE ALIEN GRAND DESIGN, goes into this at some length.
RWE..."So, why do they either want to be seen or else do not care if they are seen and at the same time have not landed and introduced themselves?"
That baffles me, too.
They seem to go to extraordinary lengths to stay incognito but on some occasions seem to try and get right in your face.
JAL 1628 incident is a good example of UFO's practically "showboating".
Colin Wilson in his book, "Alien dawn", describes some UFO's almost acting like extraterrestrial juvenile delinquents, playing "chicken" with our pilots.
I can only think it may give credence to the theory that multiple types of aliens are visiting...each with different agendas. Some aren't as bothered about being noticed as others.
@Sky70:
In fact the alien modus operandi is very intelligent. They must first inure us to their reality before landing openly, and that requires many fleeting appearances over the course of maybe a century. Btw in my comment above I meant "adverse psychological REACTIONS" of course.
@Sky70
You are assuming that the "so-called aliens" are inter-stellar or inter-galactic with your statement "...always playing hide and seek with us, after traveling billions of miles to our planet.".
Maybe they are not inter-stellar or inter-galactic visitors at all, but from some different dimension, different time, or just maybe, they have been here on earth all along.
The fact is that we (the general public) truly do not know the true answer with any certainty.
@ Dr. Okuma, good points here, however, what we do know is that wherever they come from, they do play hide and seek with us humans. And it seems that the accepted version of them in drawings and descriptions is that they don't wear any clothes at all. All that technology and they can't even manufacture a pair of pants?
@Dr Okuma:
The public may not be certain of the true answer but the ETH is by far the best and most parsimonious view.
First of all, we know other planets exist, in vast numbers. And we know space travel is possible as we've begun it ourselves. Have "other dimensions" or time travel been verified at all? If the reported entities are dimensional or time travelers, why are they generally associated with FLYING craft? If they were "here on earth all along" where in the geological record is there evidence for a high intelligence other than our own? Homo Erectus was one of our ancestors; is there evidence for a different evolving intelligence? And where is the evidence for a developing civilization, indigenous to earth, other than our own?
IMO the phenomenon doesn't want us to be certain, yet, of its reality and true (ET) nature but is slowly conditioning us to accept it.
John Steiger asked me to post this:
Sky70: By what standard are you judging "'so-called' aliens ... after traveling billions of miles to our planet"? And for that matter, what is your standard of judgment for never giving "the 'so-called' Pascagoula incident any creditability [sic] at all"?
Surely not any so-called objectivity on your part.
P.S. to Dr. Okuma: You are quite correct in your assessment.
