Jim Marrs December 5, 1943 - August 2, 2017

For those of you who haven't heard, Jim Marrs had died. He was famous for his book, Alien Agenda and his book on the Kennedy assassination, Crossfire. That book became the basis for Oliver Stone's movie, JFK.

Personally, I meant Marrs only twice and both times at UFO symposium or conferences. We disagree on several cases such as the UFO crash at Aurora, Texas in 1897, but that didn't mean that we argued loudly or attacked each others research techniques or beliefs. He was always cordial and answered the questions of his fans politely and with grace.

Although Publisher's Weekly savaged Alien Agenda, that didn't stop the public from buying  it and according to some, it is the top selling UFO book of all time.

Interestingly, and like so many of the rest of us, he had his own radio show, "The View from Marrs," that was heard three times a week at 3:00 p.m. central time.

Jim Marrs who had a big voice in the UFO field, is gone. I suspect he now knows the ultimate truth and it would be fun to read what he had to say about it.

For his family and friends I have nothing but the deepest sympathy. He's no doubt left a hole that no one or nothing else can ever fill for them. I hope they can find some measure of comfort in the outpouring of sympathy and kind words spoken on his passing.

But also speaking as one who has reached the point of total disgust with an overwhelming majority of the conspiracy theories in circulation and the people who spin and promote them, having one less conspiracy theorist on the scene seems to be not such a bad thing.

May he rest in Peace, and as you say find out the truth to alot of the mysteries he pursued on this side of life.
Marrs was always entertaining during radio interviews, and a thrilling author.

Sad news for us all~

@purrlgurrl,

I'm dusting off my copy of "Rule By Secrecy", by Marrs, (c)2000. Did you read it?

Not much on UFOs, but it's about the history of secret societies.

Nope. And I'm all done with conspiracy theorists. I choose not to live my life in a state of paranoia, suspicion, and distrust about every event that transpires.

@purrlgurrl,

A healthy skepticism is all anyone can ask.

One example:
"Foreign Affairs" is the publication of the Council on Foreign Relations. The CFR is not a secret society. All it's members are known. You want to know what US foreign policy will be a few months from now? Read the current issue, then wait. These are the folks that -make- US foreign policy; not Congress, not the President.

Groups like this are the template for the way modern governance works, and it applies to all areas, not just politics.

WTC7..and BBC making the "mother of all" balls-ups by announcing its collapse 23 minutes before it actually did. (and laughably, with the damned thing still stood in the background as they were reporting on it)

I'm all done with the drongos out there who can't see the absolutely bleedin' obvious.

All -

This was a sad announcement about the death of Jim Marrs and shouldn't be a conversation on various conspiracy theories... so, let's say that discussion for another time.
